Spelling words with numbers and symbols (such as 1337) originated from FTP servers when they hosted illegal files so they were harder to identify to the general public. Basiclly a code language.

Pawn originated from chess, pawning a piece or the king was when the piece was taken with a pawn.

Just some useless facts for you :P

Yah the people above me have explained what Spike means as a Verb. However in your example you mentioned Spike Trappers, which are simply normal Trappers using the skill Spike Trap.

No, not really. According to Wiki(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z), its been known as zee since the late 1600s, so not new, but definately embraced by the US, as we seem to be the only ones who use it. On a side note, I always have, and always will, day zee. Saying zed just sounds bizzare.

(but then, i often use similar myself, like -50 on save vrs BadBreath and so on ^^ hehehe)

the ones that get me are the spoken versions....like the difference between saying...'i asked you to get me the milk'....and 'i axed you to get me da milk'
and the rest of the street slang....guess im a fusty old musty fro the day i was borne

I think pwn started when somebody in a Warcraft 3 custom game called Defense of the Ancients or DotA misspelled own and didn't correct it
